David has over 15 years of experience operating across key markets in South East Asia focused on strategy, business development and finance. He’s covered media, fintech and telecommunications industries, working closely with senior stakeholders to set and implement growth and turnaround strategies. He has also been involved in preparing prospectus documentation for the IPO of Singapore’s national broadband network and advising emerging telecoms companies on sell side M&A opportunities. Previously, David led early-stage revenue growth at the Asian Food Channel prior to its acquisition by Scripps Network. He holds an MBA from INSEAD.
A seasoned veteran in the Maritime Industry, with vast experience, in business development. As Vice President Business Development at Varun, he grew the companies business in difficult international markets such as Indonesia, Brazil, Nigeria with term contracts totaling in excess of USD 360 million, over a short span of 4 years. He is experienced in shipping of LPG/Ammonia, Petchems and also in the offshore sector (anchor handling). As Managing Director at Red Dot Shipping, he managed global commercial operations of semi-refrigerated LPG/Pet chem vessels. Prior to that, he was Managing Director of STORK (Dutch) owned manufacturing entity in Singapore and grew the companied business from 7 to 24 countries worldwide. He is also a member on the Advisory Panel at the SINGAPORE MARITIME FOUNDATION (SMF) and was also the nominated member of the Indian National Shipowners Association for ASF (Asian Shipowners Forum).
Dato’ Benny is one of the founding partners of Joseph Tan Jude Benny LLP. He founded the firm in 1988, and has since been the architect of the firm’s growth. The firm’s success is largely attributed to Dato’ Benny’s leadership. Over the years, he has developed the Firm’s shipping and admiralty practice into one of the largest in Singapore, and the first to have a global network covering Greece, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Taiwan and he has also guided the firm to the award of Best Shipping Practice in the first Asian Law Awards. Over his 30 years of practice, Dato’ Benny has acquired extensive experience as both arbitration counsel and arbitrator in a wide area of commercial law including construction, infrastructure, off-shore, shipbuilding and corporate conflicts.
